Chocolate-Glazed Cake Doughnuts |
4 cups flour 1 1/4 cups sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup buttermilk 1/4 cup melted butter, margarine, or vegetable oil 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 oz. melted, unsweetened chocolate Oil for deep frying Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients - except oil for frying - just till moistened. Chill, if desired. Heat oil in large saucepan or deep fryer to 375*. On a well-floured surface, knead dough for a minute or two, until no longer sticky. Roll half at a time to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with floured doughnut cutter. Use spatula to slip doughnuts and donut holes into the hot oil. Fry 1-1 1/2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Glaze: 1 box confectioners' sugar 1 envelope plain gelatin 1 cup warm water 1 teaspoon vanilla Mix ingredients. Drop doughnut into mixture, remove and let drain. Go back to Sara's Bakery |
